Metal lath provides a lightweight and easily attachable base for plaster application.
Made from expanded steel, the lath generally is applied flat across the stud plane and
attached with staples, nails, or wafer head lath screws. The openings in the lath enable
plaster to key around the metal to assure a secure bond and a flat, smooth surface
plane upon completion of the plaster application. Metal lath comes in a variety of
configurations, including self-furring (dimpled and continuous groove for use over solid
substrates ASTM C1063) and paper-backed, to meet specific job requirements and
plaster/stucco preferences. ClarkDietrich products meet or exceed the requirements
of ASTM C847.
Diamond Mesh Lath
A Galvanized Expanded Steel Plaster/Stucco Base

A superior multi-purpose expanded steel base widely used for interior and exterior
plaster and stucco reinforcement. The flat surface is easily cut and formed for use with
flat or contoured surfaces. It is an excellent base for stone, spray on structural
fireproofing, ornamental work, and under ceramic tile. Expanded metal lath is formed
from sheet steel that has been slit and expanded to form thousands of plaster “keys”
per square yard. Its time proven exceptional strength and flexibility makes it the preferred
metal base requested by contractors and design professionals.

Diamond mesh metal lath is available with or without a Grade-D asphalt paper-backing
breather sheet.

Self-Furring Dimple Lath
Galvanized Expanded Steel Plaster/Stucco Base

A self-furring expanded dimpled metal lath ideal for interior and exterior use over
sheathing, masonry and other solid surfaces as required per ASTM C1063. The dimple
self-furring plaster base is manufactured with evenly spaced indentations that hold the
metal lath ¼” away from the surface to be plastered. Self-furring metal lath is available
with or without a Grade-D asphalt paper-backing, breather sheet.sphalt paper-backing
breather sheet.

Self-Furring V-Groove Lath
Galvanized Expanded Steel Plaster/Stucco Base

A self-furring expanded V-grooved metal lath, ideal for interior and exterior use over
sheathing, masonry and other solid surfaces as required per ASTM C1063.
The V-grooved self-furring plaster base is manufactured with evenly spaced indentations,
6” apart which run the length of the lath sheet holding the metal lath a consistent ¼”
away from the surface to be plastered. Self-furring metal lath is available with or without
a Grade-D asphalt paper-backing, breather sheet.

3/8" Rib Lath
A Galvanized Expanded Steel Plaster/Stucco Base

A High-Rib Metal Lath with a herringbone mesh pattern and seven deep longitudinal
solid steel ribs providing superior strength and exceptional rigidity. The heavy ribs
enable use on ceiling or wall spans at 24” compliant to Table 3 of ASTM C1063.
This excellent product is also used on 2” stud-less partitions and as reinforcement for
concrete floor and roof slabs.

Spray Rib Lath
Galvanized Expanded Steel Plaster/Stucco Base

A herringbone mesh pattern with seven deep longitudinal solid steel ribs with 3-3/16”
wide strips of plain 50lb kraft paper spot attached with glue between ribs. Spray Rib
Lath provides the superior strength and exceptional rigidity of regular 3.4 high rib lath
while the addition of the strips of kraft paper limits the loss of plaster when used over
open framing or when machine applied. Spray Rib lath is not a replacement for Grade-D
breather sheet moisture retardant paper. (Available West Coast Only)

Striplath
Reinforcement for inner corners

Striplath is a flat expanded metal strip used as plaster reinforcement over joints of
non-metallic lathing bases and where dissimilar bases join. It’s commonly attached
diagonally at the corners of doors, windows or areas prone to cracks. It may also be
used to span pipe chases or reinforce other stress points such as the corners of
openings in the stucco membrane within the lath system.

Cornerite™
Reinforcement for inner corners

Cornerite™ reinforcing angle is used to reinforce all inside or inner plaster corners
to reduce corner cracking. Cornerite™ reinforcing angle is formed from finished edge
strip lath and bent lengthwise to a 100° angle ensuring a snug fit into 90° corners.
It’s commonly used when walls meet walls or ceilings, over inner angles of masonry
construction and in the floating angle method of applying gypsum lath to wood framing
in order to reduce plaster cracking.

Cornerite™ reinforcing angle should be tied to the base lath using 18-gauge tie wire.
It should not be attached directly to support framing, but allowed to float in the corner.
Available in 2" x 2" in 4' and 8' lengths, and 3" x 3" in 8' length only.
