Mold Defense® Shaftliner Type X

Mold Defense® Shaftliner Type X drywall is designed for use as lining in elevator shafts, ventilation shafts and stairwells, for area separation walls in residential housing and for interior building applications that require fire resistance.
The product has a specially formulated, noncombustible, mold and moisture-resistant gypsum core enhanced with glass fibers for strength and additional fire resistance. It features a green, water-repellent, mold and mildew-resistant paper facing on its front, back, and long edges.

Mold Defense Shaftliner Type X panels are only one component of reliable shaft or area separation wall assemblies. In order to obtain proper fire-rated resistance, the panels must be used as specified in the listed design. (See the Lafarge Shaftwall design literature or the Underwriters Laboratories [UL] listings for more information.)

Mold Defense offers enhanced protection against mold and mildew growth on both the product's surface and in its core
compared to ordinary drywall products. Under controlled testing conditions, Mold Defense achieved an average panel score
of 10 out of a possible 10 - the highest level of performance for mold resistance using ASTM D 3273.

Applications:
Mold Defense Shaftliner Type X has been tested for a wide range of ceiling, wall and enclosure applications:
Elevator enclosures
Stairwell enclosures
Mechanical enclosures for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and ventilation services
Unlined shafts for return-air handling
Area separation fire walls
Corridor ceilings
Soffits

Weather Defense® Platinum Shaftliner Type X

Weather Defense® Platinum Shaftliner Type X drywall is designed for use in lining elevator shafts, ventilation shafts and stairwells, for area separation walls in residential housing, and for other interior building applications requiring fire resistance.
Weather Defense Platinum Shaftliner Type X has a specially formulated, noncombustible, mold-resistant gypsum core enhanced with glass fibers for strength and additional fire resistance. Its fiberglass matting eliminates the need for paper, a potential food source for mold.
This characteristic can help reduce remediation and scheduling delays, making Weather Defense Platinum Shaftliner Type X a great alternative to traditional paper-faced shaftliners.

Weather Defense Platinum Shaftliner Type X panels are only one component of a reliable shaft or area separation wall assembly. To obtain proper fire-rated resistance, the panels must be used as specified in the listed design. (See the Lafarge Shaftwall design literature or the UL listings for more information.)

Weather Defense Platinum offers enhanced protection against the growth of mold and mildew on its surface when compared with ordinary drywall products. Under controlled testing conditions, Weather Defense Platinum achieved an average panel score of 10 out of a possible 10, the highest level of performance for mold resistance using ASTM D 3273. As with any building material, avoiding exposure to water during handling, storage, and installation is the best way to avoid the formation of mold and mildew.

Applications:
Weather Defense Platinum Shaftliner Type X has been tested for a wide range of ceiling, wall, and enclosure applications:
Elevator enclosures
Stairwell enclosures
Mechanical enclosures for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and venting services
Unlined shafts for return-air handling
Area separation fire walls

Shaftliner Type X Drywall

Shaftliner Type X is designed for use in lining elevator shafts, ventilation shafts, and stairwells; for area separation walls in residential housing; and for other interior building applications requiring fire resistance.
The panel has a specially formulated, non-combustible gypsum core enhanced with glass fibers for strength and additional fire resistance. It is covered with an aqua, water-repellent paper facing on the front, back and long edges. Normal applications do not require finishing treatments, but the aqua surface will accommodate painting or other finishes after proper surface preparation.
Shaftliner Type X panels are only one component of a shaft or area separation wall assembly. For fire-rated resistance the panels must be used as required in the listed design. See the Lafarge Shaftwall design literature or the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listings.

Applications:
Shaftliner Type X is tested in a series of designs for a wide range of ceiling, wall, and enclosure applications. It is used for:
Elevator enclosures
Stairwell enclosures
Mechanical enclosures for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and venting services
Unlined shafts for return air handling
Area separation fire walls
Corridor ceilings
Soffits

DensGlass® Shaftliner

DensGlass® Shaftliner is a premium 1" Type X gypsum panel (per ASTM C 1658) backed on both faces with coated fiberglass mat. This architecturally specified product is an ideal substitute for heavy masonry construction in fire-rated assemblies for shaftwalls, stairwells and area separation walls.

DensGlass Shafliner is highly mold-resistant* making it ideal for use in moisture-prone vertical and horizontal shaftwall assemblies, stairwell applications and area separation walls in commercial and multi-family construction.
Superior moisture resistance significantly reduces or eliminates callbacks due to moisture-related problems. The inherent moisture resistance of the fiberglass mat shaftwall panels provides leverage in managing construction schedules. Mechanical work such as HVAC system installation can start during the pre-rock phase of construction, helping mitigate risk caused by construction delays.
